The bio

Maharukh Dalal is a keynote speaker, executive coach, and former Fortune 500 executive.

Maharukh is a leadership identity expert. Her work is built on a single conviction: what separates good leaders from great isn’t a skill gap or a credibility gap —it’s an identity gap.

She helps leaders turn that gap into their Identity Advantage™ to earn promotions, drive successful change, and lead with confidence under pressure.

She spent over a decade leading global teams at Starwood Hotels, now Marriott International. She has two decades of senior corporate leadership across finance, hospitality, and private equity. She now brings that experience to organisations including JPMorgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, EY, and IHG — through keynotes, workshops, and executive coaching.

Her talks sit at a rare intersection: the hard-won credibility of a practitioner who has led at the highest levels of global organisations, and the precision of a trained coach who understands what actually changes behaviour.

She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics and French from Rutgers University with Highest Honours. She is a certified coach through the Co-Active Training Institute, accredited by the International Coaching Federation.

She has written for publications such as Kiplinger and Chief Executive.

She has lived and worked in four countries — India, the United States, Singapore, and the UK — and works with organisations and leaders across the globe.

The pivots

Six chapters. One arc.

№ 01

Growing up in India

The Foundation

Where she first learned to live away from home, aged eleven.

At eleven, Maharukh left home to attend boarding school — learning self-reliance, discipline, and how to build belonging in unfamiliar places. The foundations of resilience were laid long before she knew she'd need them.
№ 02

Coming to America

The Culture Shock

Where she arrived with a suitcase and no idea what she'd walked into.

She landed in Northfield, Minnesota in the middle of winter — a small college town, -40 degrees, about as far from Mumbai as it's possible to get. She spent the first year figuring out who she was when every familiar reference point had been stripped away.
№ 03

Working on Wall Street

The Proving Ground

Where she learned that hard work gets you in the room. What you do next is a different skill entirely.

Bursting with ambition, Wall Street was the only place Maharukh wanted to be. Her big decision wasn't what she wanted to do but choosing between two firms where she had done summer internships and received offers — Goldman Sachs or CIBC. She chose CIBC for the role. Four years of early mornings, high-stakes meetings, and holding her own in rooms full of people who had decades of experience. She learned that smarts and hard work get you in the door and can keep you there — but they won't get you to the next level on their own. Perception matters.

Getting her Harvard MBA

The First Pivot

Where she chose passion over the expected path.

Harvard Business School was the reset she didn't know she needed. Two years to rethink what she was building, why she was building it, and who she wanted to become as a leader. She left with more than a degree — she left with clarity.
№ 05

Leading across continents

The Career Acceleration

Where she built her identity as a leader.

Running global teams across four continents, navigating boardrooms in different time zones and cultures, she honed what it means to lead with intention. Not just managing outcomes — but shaping how people think, act, and show up.
№ 06

Betting on herself

The Leap

Where trusting herself turned out to be enough.

Today Maharukh brings together the hard-won experience of a leader who has run global teams across four continents, and the precision of a trained coach who understands what actually changes behaviour. She works with leaders and organisations to do the hard things they know they need to do. She helps them build a leadership identity so they can lead with clarity — and not just survive change and disruption, but be built for it.
